All you need to know about fault finding

Have you been noticing small electrical hiccups around your home lately? Like maybe the bulbs are burning out too soon, or you’re hearing a few “zapping” sounds whenever you plug something in. Perhaps your circuit breakers are tripping too frequently, you’re getting a few shocks here and there or maybe your electric bill is unreasonably high. By themselves, these sound like minor inconveniences. But together, or sometimes even by themselves, they can be indicative of a much larger electrical issue. So how do you find out what’s wrong? By getting a fault finding session conducted of course! What’s that you ask? Well, the Sparkies Electrical team has written this blog post just for you to explain exactly what a fault finding session is comprised of.

Like its name suggests, fault finding is basically conducted to find out if there is anything wrong with your electric work or your wiring. Usually, the first thing an electrician will do at a fault finding session is check for any visible kinks. They will check if there are any damaged wires or cables, if there is any overloading etc. After that, the electrician may plug in his multi meter to the different circuits at different points in your home to check if the appropriate amount of current and voltage are being supplied in your circuits. After they have done all their checks, the electrician will cross check his diagnosis and then get to fixing the problem. You as a client are expected to have relevant information (how old, what the problem is etc.) about your home wiring or whatever machine you wanted the electrician to check out.

So, if you’re having frequent problems with your electricity, or you just want to make sure that all your electric work and wiring for your Gold Coast home is up to scratch, just give Sparkies Electrical a call and we’ll conduct a fault finding session for you at a great price!
