• Do a test of your household smoke detector before you put your Christmas lights up
• Check for fraying or cord damage on old Christmas lighting
• Do not alter or modify Christmas lights in any way
• Don’t leave Christmas tree lights on all night while you sleep
• Make sure you buy lights especially for outdoor use, if you are putting lights up outside
• Secure outdoor lights from wind and storms
• Turn decorative outdoor lights off in rainy or stormy whether
