Do a test of your household smoke detector before you put your Christmas lights up
Check for fraying or cord damage on old Christmas lighting
Do not alter or modify Christmas lights in any way
Don’t leave Christmas tree lights on all night while you sleep
Make sure you buy lights especially for outdoor use, if you are putting lights up outside
Secure outdoor lights from wind and storms
Turn decorative outdoor lights off in rainy or stormy whether
